Creating preschool lesson plans Easter themed can be a lot of fun for you and your preschool class. Many schools do not allow teachers to teach their class about religion so you may have to leave this aspect out of the holiday lesson plan. Instead, focus on the commercial aspects of Easter such as the Easter bunny and eggs. This article will explain some fantastic activities that you can incorporate into your Easter lesson plan.
Easter Eggs - This is a great and traditional way to
celebrate Easter with young children.
Many people use blown eggshells when making Easter eggs.
However, these have proven to be too fragile for young children to work with. Instead, use hardboiled eggs for this project. They will provide more resilience and will not make as big of a mess if a child drops one.
Provide the children with a couple of hardboiled eggs each. Allow them to paint the eggs in anyway that they would like to. There is no right or wrong way to complete this activity. Praise the children for a job well done. Allow the eggs to dry before letting the children take them home. You can make the transportation of the Easter eggs go more smoothly if you put them into padded containers of some sort. Milk cartons and pillow stuffing is a great way to keep the eggs safe while the children take them home.
Baby Food Bunnies - If you can round up enough empty baby food jars, this is a wonderful project for young children to do during Easter. Make sure the jars are clean and dry before using them for this craft. You can prep the jars for this activity ahead of time or let the children do all of the steps. If you are going to prep ahead of time, paint the inside of all the jars white. Spray paint works well for this step. Once the paint has dried, you will be ready to begin the activity. You can use regular pillow stuffing inside of the jars, instead of white paint. However, it will not come out as nicely.
Help the children attach googly eyes and a pink cotton ball nose. Paint a mouth under the nose with black paint. You can create ears from pieces of white and pink felt. Help the children glue the ears onto the lid of the jar. Screw the lid back onto the jar and you will have a finished Baby Food Bunny.
Poor Ducky - This is a wonderful game to play during circle time. Have the children sit in a circle and designate one child to be the ducky. The ducky then has to go up to someone and quack at him or her. The child who was quacked at must then pet the ducky on the head and say "poor ducky" three times without laughing. If they do not laugh, the ducky goes on to the next person in line. When someone does eventually laugh, they become the ducky. You can use a bunny instead but since bunnies do not make noises, ducky’s work better.
